The Man Behind the Story.

Where the story begins.

George Marrero grew up in the Bronx of New York City in the 1980s, a decade when change and new ideas were coming about.

Yet while prosperity reached other parts of the city, the ghettos and housing projects of New York remained as violent as ever. Coming from a dysfunctional family, George made the streets his new family.

When all hope seemed lost.

He became part of the neighborhood crew, and that life led him into more violence and, eventually, to prison. It is a chapter he writes about openly in Willing to Change.

It was at that point, when all hope appeared to be lost, that he was given a second chance.

A second chance, built on faith.

George overcame life’s harshest obstacles through faith in God, perseverance, and education.

His studies became a central part of that new life. He completed a bachelor’s degree in Christian Education at the Universidad Teológica del Caribe in Saint Just, Puerto Rico, then a master’s in religion from the Evangelical Seminary of Puerto Rico. He is currently working on his Ph.D. in Bible Exposition at Liberty University.

George Marrero lives in Connecticut with his wife and children. Through Willing to Change, he invites readers to read and reflect, and to understand that if they or someone they love are struggling through situations that seem impossible to overcome, their lives can be changed too.
